Here are some images I took of skies in Korea...

Something that I like to do lately.

16 September 2007 - Graduate Students Architecture Exhibition @ Old Seoul Station

In Geol aka Calvin from my studio brought Miao Ling and I to the Graduate Students Exhibition in Seoul Station, I really enjoyed the whole exhibit as we got to see many works from most of the Korean's universities. So here are some pictures I took of their models. Some are simply amazing!
Oh, thank you In Geol for your patience in explaining to us the panels as it is in korean. =)

Of Soju, Beer, Chicken Ass, BBQ, Noraebang and Party!

Over here, every week, every friday night and wednesday night (because we got no class on thursday), is always filled with party of Noraebang (Karaoke), Soju/Beer, BBQ and yeah whatever a group of 'high' people might do after that... So, it is totally different from what we have in Singapore! Too bad though, whenever I go for these parties, my camera is not around with me, afraid that I might either lose it or smash it. HAHA!!

Jeju Island Day 3 - Hiking Hallasan

Day 3 . . .

Objective . . . hike to the summit of Hallasan

Brief discription:

Height: 1950m
Total Time taken: 8 hours (incl. lunch break and many breaks in between)
Total distance covered: 19.2km
climate condition: summer
terrain conditions: mixed (rocky, uneven paths, timber decks, timber steps, rocky steps)
animals sighted: deer and 2 snakes

So, we started our hike at 9 a.m and reached the peak at 1p.m and reached the bottom at 5p.m
All according to schedule. I passed my camera to Shijie and so did not take much pictures while going up the mountain. I'm weak... Shijie is STRONG! Cos' he carries the most things like almost all the water supplies too! haha... Thank you!! I was dying of exhaustion there... haha

...The Ascending Journey

Anyway, we were so glad that we reached the peak. But when we saw young children like 4 years old? climbing up the mountain and not tired at all... we were so ashamed haha!! Koreans are strong!! haha!!!

...The Summit

...The Descending Journey

...A nice sunset view from the resort.

...Our Pizza dinner back in the resort after our hike.

So, these wraps up our nice summer vacation in Jeju island. We were happy, exhausted, richer in experience but poorer in the wallet. =P

Jeju Island-Day 2

Yeah Day 2, we met our driver at our resort (Bora Bora Resort) and wanted to change our schedules, and thankfully we met the Boss of our resort, who knows how to speak english quite well and he is very kind! So he was there to help translate to the driver where we wanted to go. So after much discussion, the first thing we did was to Horse ride. But we weren't allowed to ride on our own which Shijie was wishing for. Yeah Emily's and my horse, were 'bombing' their loads off while it gallops.... anyway Shijie saw the 'bombs' as he was at our backs. Hahaha!! nice morning experience.

Then after that, we wanted to do some pottery so we were told to head down to Ilchulland, where Micheon Cave was located too. Anyway in the end the pottery class was closed so we did not have the chance to do any pottery. Disappointed... seems like everyday there will always be one disappointment haha.

we were bored... doing some martial art fighting scene... hahaha !!!

Right after that, we proceeded to Seongeup Folk Village to experience the traditional Jeju life and architecture. =P

Black Pigs' sty . . . plus outdoor WC!

After the visit and our lunch, we were thinking of going to Jeongbang waterfall located at Seogwipo and the other waterfall at Jungnum - cheonjeyeon waterfall. However, the driver (again) keep insisting that Cheonjeyeon (to what we know it's a legendary waterfall), is No. 3 in Jeju. So he wants us to visit Cheonjiyeon, as he proclaimed that it is No.1 in Jeju and then Jeongbang waterfall, being No.2 in Jeju. But we guessed that probably it is because this No.1 and No.2 waterfalls are close to each other while the No.3 is far, so he did not want to bring us there.. sigh... speechless.. we gave up and so went to No.1 and No.2. Haha

So this is "No.2" - Jeongbang waterfall, a waterfall that falls directly to the sea. Which we think it should be No.1, because we can play around and get up close and personal with. Sadly, my pictures for these two waterfalls are limited as my camera was low in battery by the time we arrived there... sigh what bad luck.

And this is "No.1", which is not amazing at all..because we can only see it and not go near it.
Foolish driver, don't know what fun is. haha sorry trying to vent my anger.

JEJU ISLAND DAY 1

Since I'm now doing my laundry, and waiting for it to be done.... I guess why not just blog something! yeah? haha.. So here is the long overdue pictures of our trip to Jeju Island on August before our term started at Hanyang University.

22 August:

We reached Jeju International Airport at 8 a.m and met our korean driver, Mr. Kim (who we don't really like due to abundance of reasons, the only good thing being that he is a very good photographer). So, we told him our itinerary and which he later on changed lots of them. Sad. =(

So Mysterious Road was the first place we visited. Hmm.. actually, I wasn't amazed by it at all. I don't know why.

Then later on we went to Yongduam Rock and then visited the National Natural Museum of Jeju...

And..after that, we had SASHIMI...which cost us each approximately S$80. Alright... that was the most expensive meal we had... and then we wanted to go Samyang Beach to see the black sand... but the driver keep insisting that Hamdeok Beach is No.1 in Jeju and Samyang is No.10. Jeez! that sucks. anyway, we agreed to his No.1 beach... so here, Hamdeok Beach for you all =P No black sands. But alright, the water and beach is nice. So we were fine with it.

We did not have a swim in the sea... was too 'shocked' after our lunch. So we stay around the beach for awhile before moving to our next destination: Manjanggul - Lava-tube cave!
The temperature here is pretty cooling...and when we were inside, we keep hoping that autumn will come soon and hope that when we return to Seoul, autumn comes, autumn leaves fall, clear sky and cool weather. Hahaha!!

19 August: National Museum of Korea

So, that weekend I guess was really fruitful as we visited 1 Palace, 1 exhibition and 1 Museum!
Very happy weekend!

According to Jae (our korean friend), National Museum of Korea, is the 5th largest in the world.
So, here are some pictures to share...

View from my room. . .

We moved to the 5th floor last month... which was tiring as we got to climb up and down that stupid stairs! Sigh, why 5th floor!!! Anyway, we got this view in the end... not that amazing but will do. Haha..the good thing now is that, the warm water in the shower room is working very well. YAY!

DeoksuGong - Monet Exhiition Trip

It's been a long time since I update, so lets start from this.
We went to Deoksugong & Monet Exhibition last month on 18th of August.
So, here are some images we took! =)

This is the venue for the Monet Exhibition which cost me 10,000Won. Expensive but I got to see one of my favourite paintings. So quite worthwhile.

And I got bored... so yeah what my friends called "cam whoring" ? =P ...i think

City Slogans

Alright, I'm really dead bored now in the office. Been reading El Croquis: Herzog&DeMeuron.
Arrgghh!
But interestingly this morning I finally found out what's Ansan's slogan.

So we have, Uniquely Singapore, Truly Malaysia, Dynamic Korea, Hi Seoul, Happy Suwon and for Ansan, it is Bravo Ansan! Hahaha!!

Hope to find more of these soon. I wonder what's Jeju's. Sunny Jeju?? Romantic Jeju? Hmm...
hehe !!!

Post-work walking session on Monday

I'm not sure why and how, but I just love to walk around Seoul after my work and not sure where I got the energy from. May be it is because i don't wish to return back to my dorm room so soon. =P
Went with Miao Ling and Co Seng. We walked from Kyobo Bookstore to the palace then City Hall. I guess it is roughly a 3km walk again.

This is on Monday. Must have been the good food I've been eating lately.

Some concert/event preparation at the City Hall Plaza.

Promoting a new and cool umbrella from Singapore! =P Standing right above the fountain without realizing it is a fountain. (luckily it is under maintenance)

Pretty Korean Models !

Alright! These pictures are not that well taken cos' in front of me, there are more vicious cameramen with their super long and cool cameras. So, I could only jump up and down and squeeze myself nearer to get a shot... (man i sound very desperate!)

enough talks.

here are the pictures! =P

Office Surroundings

Was waiting for my other friends to end work on one of the weekdays last week, and decided to walk around the office area to snap some pictures.

Typical alleys found in Seoul. - where all nice food lurks.

This building uses very interesting materials for its facade.
I was told by my colleagues, that is actually the materials of Korean traditional roofing that is kept and made as a decorative feature/pattern for the facade. Nice!

Along the Highway to Incheon Airport

Yesterday went to pick a friend of ours from Singapore at Incheon Airport. Never did observe or pay attention to it when I arrived earlier, as I was just simply too tired after the long journey. So yesterday was my chance to see the airport again. Yay!
So Tiffany, Jae and I head down to Incheon Airport with Jae's 'transformer' car. Haha!! All expenses paid for by the school. Nice~

So here are some pictures I took along the way. =)

The bridge linking the island where the airport is to the mainland.

Jae...slow down I want to take pictures~ =P

the airport ... alright, didn't take much as we were too hungry and just wanted to get out of there. FAST! haha!!

Rainy Season. . .

For the past few days, the rain just keep on pouring to my lovely Korea. Sigh... spoiling my mood. Hope this will end soon. The rain here is really weird, it just pours without any warnings and it ends abruptly too. If it drizzles, you practically couldn't see any raindrops. It feels like those fans with the water vapour moistures found in Singapore.

Another thing I notice is that, wounds tend to heal slower over here. I had a cut on my finger and the blood still oozes out on the 3rd day! Really strange. I guess it is because of the climatic condition here? I'm not sure.

Alright been spending too much lately, so going to cut down on unnecessary expenditures...as if!
Hahaha I still want to buy winter shoes, winter apparels, T-shirts, Autumn wear, and my limited edition shoes I saw at Myeong-dong!! that will roughly cost me like 600,000Won in total! I think.

So, I guess in October, someone's annual bonus will be needed over in Korea =P *wink Thanks bro!
Will get you a small souvenir =P

Rain GO AWAY!!! Don't come back and just go hit some other places.

Today is my Super Saver Day - to date

Since my arrival to Korea, I've been spending on average, like 12,0000 Won per day.
But today, if excl. the transport and the charges paid to change my air ticket, I only spent W1500 for my lunch on Gimbap! Oh my!! haha... Anyway, just want to wish my 2 colleagues or Heung Ni(s) (elder brother in korean), a Happy Birthday!

Ohh the green tea cake is delicious!! yum yum....
